I’ve been honing in on my Web 2.0 lately. Okay, I hate that term even more now.
Anyway, I have spiffied up my code a little, particularly in the navigation menus to make them more accessible on low-featured browsers like cell phones and for those using screen readers. You hear that? Yeah, you. You better tell me how my site looks on your cell phone because I can’t test it myself!
You might also notice a few cameos of stripes, evidently very web 2.0. Eh em. I also added a glossy button to click on whenever you decide to download one of Ray’s videos on the site.
Enjoy.
Update (09/03/2007): There has been additional overhauls. I eradicated the tables around the various forms on BHS. Currently, I am using the simple but elegant style from http://nidahas.com/sandbox/form_template.html

So things are looking good for the new server configuration. Ubuntu Server is a far more appropriate choice than my previous deployment and the new hard drive capacity is much appreciated. I believe all web sites and system services are back online. The other user accounts and access methods are also operational. If any errors are encountered please contant me.
Czin currently has three other users who all curiously have a web page with no content. The user listing can be found on the Czin user sites page. It would be nice to see some activity from the other users as under construction and “hello world” sites are quite boring.

Sometime in the near future (either this weekend or next weekend) this server will be taken down for maintenance. I will try to post here in advance when I decide the best time to go down is, but just in case you miss the announcement you will know why the server is down.
Among software updates, perhaps the greatest change is I will be upgrading the hard drives currently on the server. The data hard drive will become the new system drive and allow plenty of space for kernel upgrades and additional software installations. Things are getting pretty cozy on the 4 GB hard drive currently on the machine. Meanwhile, to fill the empty hard drive slot I will install a *new* 80 GB hard drive to accommodate the web site and user files. Admittedly the 16 GB drive has been plenty of space (my primary concern is the 4 GB system hard drive), but perhaps the extra space will encourage more activity.
Update: The timetable has moved up a few days. The upgrade will occur tomorrow (08/22/2007) evening. Tomorrow at roughly 6:00 PM the server will go down. The server will be back online when the upgrade is complete, whenever that may be.
Update 2: And we’re back. For the most part…

Finally the power button I ordered for my Toshiba laptop arrived. Within seconds I got the paperweight to transform back into a computer. I suppose it is possible the problem still exists and I just got lucky today, but so far so good.
